The Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro, was founded on june, 13th, 1808.
It arose from a decision of the then Portuguese prince regent D. João to field a gunpowder factory and a garden for acclimatization of plant species from other parts of the world.
Today the Botanical Garden is the most beautiful public park at Rio de Janeiro city. Visited for thousands of citizens and tourists each year. You must visit it! ;-)

Botanic Garden Orchidarium : This was adopted by jewelry designer Antonio Bernardo in 1997, Since Then, two large anual exighbitions are held, with the sale of orchids.
Bromeilads and Cacti: In the Bromeliad area, there are more than 20 types bromeliads from Brazil and abroad, of importance to research performed by the Botanical Gardens.
Tom Jobim Center- Culture and environment: The center has a digitalized collection belonging to the composer, on permanent exhibition. The center also proposes to promete talks and workshops on culture and environment.
Environment Museum: The Museum is a space for exhibits, educacional programs and debates that simulate the active participation of the society in the social and environmental issues.
