January/February

San Sebastian Day: The Patron of the city is celebrated on January 20 with processions throughout the Rio.
The Rio’s Carnival is the biggest expression of popular culture in Rio, and there are Carnaval parade at samba’s school on Marquês de Sapucaí and Thousand of Carnaval’s groups around the city.

March/April
Between March and April, the city gets the Easter and your birthday of foundation. The city empties from the International tourists crowds and the temperature become kind.
In April at Easter Free plays about the passion of Christ gets the schedule full of main attractions. The mainly play is at Arcos da Lapa.
Birth of city foundation day: On March 1st, a procession and a big birth cake celebrate the day.
May/June/July
At this season the winter comes to Rio and the Temperature range from 15oC/50oF to 20oC/68oF and the wind comes a lot cold and isn’t so good for the Beach. However, the city gets empty of tourists it’s a time for June Festivals.
Saint John, Saint Peter and San Antonio are celebrated with animated parties at public squares with stand’s food, fireworks, Forró ( a Kind of dance) and fires.
Rio Marathon: Held on the waterfront with 42km is one most world’s celebrated marathon.

In November, the City gets ready for Christmans and New year’s eve.

New year’s eve: The biggest party of Rio, behind de Carnival, Copacabana beach get your sands crowds with over 2 million people to watch the fireworks and to celebrate the new year. There are Stages around the beach with national and international attractions.
