It is one of the oldest neighborhoods of Rio and, thanks to a tipping occurred in the 70s, dominated by there the old buildings and low buildings. What to do
"Santa" is a free territory for any tribe, the more alternative district of Rio de Janeiro. For decades it housed many artists, and some years ago, has been populated by foreigners, especially those of French origin. Maybe this was why neighborhood streets to gather all kinds. It is interesting to walk by and notice the clothes and exotic hairstyles. In its bars, executives compete for the same space with hipsters and Rastafarians. Men can wear a skirt and womans, suits. If there is a place in Rio where you can be free, believe me, this place is Santa.

The cultural life of the neighborhood is intense. It is not uncommon for visitors to be surprised by a block in the street even if you are far from the carnival. There are many sambas, parties and soirees. The flea market - yes, there is a Santa - promotes Saturdays a samba of the best quality. It is worth checking. If you are in Rio during the winter and if you have very, very lucky, you can witness the "Saint Teresa of Open Doors", an interesting event in the Santa artists open their studios to the public and many festivals and performances take place outdoors. At this festival, you can hear jazz at Largo dos Guimarães, a coconut ( Kind of music) at Largo das Neves and fall in the revelry into a true carnival block in Largo do Curvelo.
Interestingly, during the week, Santa shows an extremely bucolic face. Situated on a hill in the center of town, which earned him the nickname of Rio's Monmartre, Santa Teresa is awarded a certain isolation that gives it a special charm. The neighborhood is a little corner of Rio de Janeiro, one can go through life without knowing it, but your life will not have the same grace. Santa, time passes more slowly. People greet each other on the street and the neighbors are mostly all known.

This were not enough, Santa even has an excellent gastronomic center. There are several bars and restaurants. We residents speak, in Santa Teresa, it is easier to buy a beer than a bread. Some well-known as the Bar do Mineiro and more frequented by locals, as Bar do Serginho Bar or the Bar do Gomes. If you want seafood do not miss the excellent Supernatural. The Goyabeira the eggplant pizza is amazing. But if you are with money and want to impress a boyfriend or girlfriend, do not miss Aprazível, with its sophisticated and stunning food. In Santa Teresa, walk and walk, rather than worrying about sights, enjoy your "vibe". It is inspired by it.
